Russia: Mr. Pavan Kapoor along with his spouse Mrs. Aradhana Sharma specially visited Brahma Kumaris to mark Raksha Bandhan. They were accompanied by Mr. Deepak Gauri, First Secretary(Consular), Mr. Phurpa Tsering, Second Secretary (Press & Information), Mr. Prajwal, Second Secretary (Consular).
Their visit coincided with the Rakhi Retreat programme organised for the regular students of Brahma Kumaris.
The programme began with a warm welcome when the guests were offered with traditional bread (Karavai) according to the Russian tradition. Then the guests were greeted with songs and flowers. The beautiful Russian song (Zdrastviche, Zdrastviche, Zdrastviche…….. “Welcome…Welcome…Welcome…we have been waiting for you since a long time…”) created the atmosphere of warm-heartedness and hospitality.
The words of greetings were extended by Didi Chakradhari, Chairperson, BK Women’s Wing (India), Regional Coordinator of BK centers in Russia and neighbouring countries and Didi Sudha, Gen. Director of the Moscow BK Center.
Didi Sudha welcomed the guests from the stage and introduced
them to the BK students who had arrived from different countries to participate in the retreat on the theme “The Call of Time – the Purification of the World”.
Ambassador Mr. Pavan Kapoor, expressed his sincere gratitude for the wonderful welcome with the hope that the number of the representatives of the Indian Embassy for the next meeting will be much more. He highly appreciated the work by the Brahma Kumaris University done all over and specially in Russia, aimed at the global purification starting with the human mind. Considering the present world situation, he added that the theme selected has a very big significance and it is a great contribution to establish a better world.
Didi Chakradhari emphasized that the spiritual culture is a very important part of the Indian culture that can reach out to people in other countries. The Brahma Kumaris University explains the deep significance of the traditional Indian festivals and the meaning of gods and goddesses. One of the aims of the University is to transform from an ordinary human being into a special one, whose character and therefore the whole life is based on divine virtues.
The official ceremony was followed by a hearty meeting with the senior teachers. All the honorable guests got a rakhi tied – a sacred thread symbolizing God’s love and protection.
The meeting ended with a delicious saatwik lunch prepared by BK students in the remembrance of God and a short excursion around the BK centre that got the name “Mayak Mira -The Lighthouse of the World”.

It was a great honour and a pleasure to visit this Centre today on the occasion of Raksha Bhandan. I was extremely impressed to see how the Brahma Kumaris are running this Centre and was especially honoured to meet Chakradhari Didi along with Sudha Didi.
