Delhi-Kingsway Camp: Shining Stars Summer Camp 2024

Delhi: Brahma Kumaris, Kingsway Camp, organized a week-long summer camp from June 9th to 15th 2024 for children aged 7 to 14 years. The summer camp was held consecutively at three centers: 1. Main Centre: Shanti Bhawan, Kingsway Camp & in its two Sub-Centre’s – 2. Holy House, Mukherjee Nagar Centre & 3. Light House, Hudson Lane Centre. Each center hosted different groups of children, who chose the location based on their convenience.

The children participated in a variety of meaningful activities such as Physical Yoga & Musical Exercises, Art and Craft, Flameless Cooking, learning different Dance Forms, sessions on topics like Digital Wellness, Power of Thoughts, Healthy Eating Habits, Understanding the Soul and the Supreme Soul, Rajyoga Meditation, Value Based Activities Etc.,

The Closing Ceremony of the week-long summer camp was held on June 15, 2024. Where a special session for parents on the “Art of Parenting” was also conducted, featuring eminent speakers like B.K. Sadhna Didi, Centre In-Charge, Brahma Kumaris Kingsway Camp, Dr. Jitendra Khanna, Prosthodontist & Nutritionist, Dr. Suman Arora, Pediatrician, Hindu Rao Hospital and Dr. Preeti Bhutani, President, Prayatna Educational Society & Author. They addressed various questions from parents, helping them understand the importance of meditation and spirituality in their child’s holistic growth.

BK Sadhna Didi enlightened the parents on the importance of meditation and the regular study of spiritual knowledge in creating a healthy family environment. She also spoke on how to invoke our inner powers through meditation, helping us to charge ourselves and positively impact others around them.

Dr. Suman Arora, Pediatrician, Hindu Rao Hospital, shared her experiences as a parent, explaining how Rajyoga Meditation has helped her raise happy and healthy children. She also discussed common physical and mental health challenges like asthma and anxiety that children face today and offered tips on how to prevent them.

Dr. Jitendra Khanna, Prosthodontist & Nutritionist, highlighted essential facts about healthy eating habits that parents should know, such as the harmful effects of palm oil and high sodium content. He also shared scientific research evidence supporting the positive effects of meditation by parents on their children. He said children are like clay molds who can be shaped through positive reinforcement and mindful parenting.

Dr. Preeti Bhutani, a language instructor, shared strategies to control screen time and promote healthy reading habits in children. She also emphasized the importance of fostering problem-solving skills in children by involving them in parents’ everyday tasks and challenges, which can significantly enhance their cognitive and emotional development.  During the ceremony, the children shared their experiences and performed various cultural activities, showcasing their learnings from the camp, such as the Rajasthani Kalbelia dance, Bhangra, Garba, Group Song and Skits on topics like “GOD-My Best Friend” & “Swarg ka Ticket”. 

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and bhog among the participants. More than 200 People (children & parents) benefited from the program.
