Siliguri: Service News On Project Sangam ( For Aged People ) by Brahmakumaris Sukhdham

Siliguri, WB: A social program under the National campaign ” Sangam ” launched jointly with the Govt of India and The Social Service wing of the brahmakumaris on 22 nd May 2026 for the welfare of senior citizens was organised in the mentioned date at Siliguri Silpanchal bhawan Renowned motivational speaker Bk EV Gireesh Bhai was the guest speaker .

Addressing the session Bk Gireesh bhai discussed about the importance of love that holds families together and texplained that in present days due to the lack of love how families are tearing impact .Especially the elderly ones are the major ones who suffer the most .Decline in the values of life especially peace ,generosity and the forgetfullness of the self has caused this upheavel .He further added that by only practising our true self through Rajyog meditation we can bring change in the society that is degrading day by day.Our elders are the backpacks of our future , they are the prime factors who is responsible for what we are today and also holds that divine power to mould the future we are assuming of through their blessing and life time experiences

Various digniataries from different fields like Medical ,Sports ,Politics, Business and social activist were present on the occasion.Shri Makhan Lal Sarkar and Dr Geeta Chatterjee were the chief guest.

Makhanlal Sarkar is a veteran political and social worker from Siliguri who recently came into the national spotlight after Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly honoured him during a major political programme in Kolkata. During the swearing-in ceremony of West Bengal’s new government at Brigade Parade Ground earlier this month, PM Modi warmly embraced the 97/98-year-old veteran and touched his feet as a mark of respect. The emotional moment quickly went viral across the country.
Dr. Geeta Chatterjee is a noted medical practitioner and respected social figure from Siliguri who later entered politics through the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). An MBBS and MD degree holder, she pursued her medical education at King George Medical College, Lucknow University and Banaras Hindu University.
