Moscow, Russia: (I) Afanasy Nikitin Award Ceremony (II) Ceremony at Sikh Culture Centre Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar

Moscow, Russia: The Celebration of the 2nd Russia-India Afanasy Nikitin Award Ceremony and about Sikh Culture Centre Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar. Both the programmes were held in Moscow.

Prologue:Traveler Afanasy Nikitin and India 

It has already been 560 years since the traveler Afanasy Nikitin left his hometown of Tver, Russia and set off on a journey to India. In 2002, a monument to the Russian traveler Afanasy Nikitin was unveiled in the Indian village of Revdanda, State Maharashtra. The seven‑metre‑high stele made of black granite is decorated with inscriptions in Russian, Hindi, Marathi and English. A granite plaque features a map of India showing Afanasy Nikitin’s route. A monument in memory of Afanasy Nikitin in Tver, Russia is the hallmark of the city. D

Programme began with the national anthems of the Russian Federation and the Republic of India followed by welcome addres by dignitaries Mr. Devadathan Nair, Organiser of the event, Director, “Blizhny Club – Compatriots of India in Russia”, Mr. Pavel Shevtsov, Dy. Head of the Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) and the Guest of Honour, laureate of the 1st Russia-India Afanasy Nikitin Award Brahma Kumari Sudha Didi. II) Gurudwara Guru Nanak Darbar, Moscow, RussiaOn the occasion of 22nd Gurudwara Sahib, respected Katar Singh, Director of Sikh Culture Centre, Moscow has invited Honourable Ambassador of India to Russia, Vinay Kumar Ji, Smt. Iona Sinha Ji, Sudha Didi and Bro. Vijay to honour them with the Siropa. Respected Ambassador delivered the speech on the occasion and greeted the gathering.
