Inauguration of the Shivratri Ceremony by Lighting 15 Lamps
Ropar, Punjab: The holy festival of Maha Shivratri was celebrated with great reverence, love, and enthusiasm at the Rajyoga Center located in Sadbhavana Bhawan, Bela Chowk, Ropar, by the Brahma Kumaris yesterday. A public ceremony was held on this occasion, where the chief guest was the Deputy Commissioner of Ropar, Mrs. Preeti Yadav, I.A.S., and the main speaker was Brahma Kumari Aditi from Mohali. Dr. Ravinder Kaur, a renowned gynecologist from Pannu Hospital, participated as an honored guest, while B.K. Anjani from Ropar also shared her thoughts at the ceremony. Distinguished individuals from the city inaugurated the ceremony by lighting 15 lamps, including Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Preeti Yadav, Brahma Kumari Aditi, Dr. Ravinder Kaur, B.K. Anjani, Councillor Poonam Kakkar, Dr. Tejinder Singh, Advocate D.S. Deol, Mr. Vinod Gupta, and former Councillor Mr. Harminder Pal Walia, among others.
After inaugurating the program, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Preeti Yadav, I.A.S., appreciated the social service being done by the Brahma Kumaris and extended her best wishes for Shivratri and Women’s Empowerment Day. She stated that women are a step ahead of men, being empowered as they excel in multitasking and naturally possess the art of managing home and job. Despite advancements in material progress, humanity has lagged in achieving mental peace and tranquility. She further mentioned that spirituality and meditation would definitely help in improving and making one’s thoughts more positive and constructive. She felt a sense of positivity during her visit.
Brahma Kumari Aditi expressed her views on the rising stress, worries, and insecurity that prevent many from sleeping, due to lack of control over their thoughts. On the occasion of Women’s Empowerment, she said that women are the axis of the family, nurturing children with love and keeping everyone united. She emphasized that mothers play a crucial role in instilling good and bad values, hence they should imbue their children with courage, creativity, good intentions, purity, affection, and empathy to ensure their success in every aspect of life. Brahma Kumari Anjana stated that God Shiva belongs not to a single religion or caste but to all religions and communities, representing a supreme energy. Establishing a connection with this energy can enhance human virtues, powers, and behaviors. She clarified that God is the source of spirituality and shed light on the spiritual aspects of various beliefs associated with the Shivratri festival, suggesting offering one’s bitterness, anger, evils, and thorns of causing pain to others instead of traditional offerings like milk and Datura. She provided a detailed introduction to God Shiva’s name, form, qualities, abode, and duties.
On this occasion, Dr. Ravinder Kaur from Pannu Hospital mentioned that 50 to 60 percent of women’s diseases are primarily caused by mental stress. She advised against comparing children with others and imposing excessive expectations, suggesting instead to offer them love, positive vibes, and to turn off the TV 2 hours before bedtime as children learn more by observing their parents. Dr. Aashish Bhai presented divine songs, and Kumari Seerat and Ruhanika performed a welcome dance.
