Ukraine and Russia- International Meditation Day

Embassy of India in Ukraine, December 2025

The second International Day of Meditation was celebrated in the capital of Ukraine. The program, organized by the Embassy of India, was opened by a solemn candle-lighting ceremony. The Second Secretary of the Embassy for Political and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Satender Kumar Yadav, addressed the participants and guests of the event.

A light and joyful atmosphere was created by a concert with the participation of classical and modern Indian dance groups from four cities of Ukraine – Dnipro, Odessa, Poltava and Kharkov.

Representatives of the Heartfulness Institute, the Kiev Brahma Kumaris Center, the Sahaja Yoga Center and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness presented various methods of meditation practice. Nina Danilenko, Coordinator of the Brahma Kumaris Center in Kiev, spoke about how a person’s self-awareness affects his inner attitude, how he is about how our self-awareness affects our inner attitude, how we perceive the world around us, and ultimately, our actions. In turn, our actions create the world we live in. While the physical consciousness fosters a consumerist attitude towards life, the spiritual consciousness can transform a person into a giving angel.

About 100 people participated in the celebration of the International Meditation Day.

III. Moral values at school

 Tver City

The municipal school No. 15 of the city of Tver supports the initiative of the Center for Spiritual Development “Inner Compass: 36 Virtues”. In the lessons of good-will, children of 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades are taught not only the mandatory school program “Spiritual and Moral Values for Junior Grades”, but also lessons on virtues are added.

The virtues of self-respect, humility, and peace were integrated into the school curriculum in November. In December, a lesson for the 2nd grade was dedicated to the virtue of benevolence. The children wrote kind wishes for their friends, and then received New Year’s wishes from their classmates.

On the eve of the New Year, the schoolchildren hosted a festive concert. Each class showed the New Year traditions of different countries. The pupils from the 6 classes talked about the Indian New Year. With the help of representatives of the Tver Center for Spiritual Development and thanks to the support of the school administration, they showed a video about the Bharat Deepavali festival and talked about its meaning. Deepavali is a festival of Light and hopes that one day every soul will radiate the light of purity and spiritual beauty.

The performance ended with the appearance of the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Lakshmi. The children and Indian students who study at the Medical Academy and cooperate with the Tver Raja Yoga Center showed a beautiful dance.
