Taiwan : The Brahma Kumaris officially registered in Taiwan on 30 June 2025, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s expanding presence across Asia. The newly established Brahma Kumaris Taiwan Association begins its journey with 36 dedicated members, guided by Chairperson Ms. Echo Chang Hui Ru, whose heartfelt commitment and leadership have been instrumental in its formation.
The establishment of the Association has been inspired by Sr. Morni (Maureen Chen) of the Brahma Kumaris Yarra Valley Retreat Centre, Australia. Over recent years, Sr. Morni has spent considerable time in Taipei and Kaohsiung, building bridges of understanding and connection that has culminated in this momentous registration. Since August 2024, Sr. Preethi (Preethi Rao) from Bangalore has been serving as the Centre Coordinator in Kaohsiung, tirelessly learning.
Mandarin and preparing to introduce the Brahma Kumaris’ international spiritual and educational programs to the people of Taiwan.
In June 2025, the Association hosted its first two-day retreat in Pingtung, drawing 30 participants eager to learn about Raja Yoga meditation and related lifestyle practices. The retreat included meditation classes, forest therapy, walking meditations, group discussions and delicious vegan cuisine. A serene space for reflection and self-discovery offered a lasting experience.
Further strengthening international spiritual ties, Br. Charlie (Charles Hogg), National Director of The Brahma Kumaris (Australia), visited Kaohsiung in December 2025. He delivered a public talk titled “The Wisdom of Love” to 40 attendees and engaged with educators and
students at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. His visit rekindled connections with long-time associates and deepened the bonds between Taiwan and the wider BK network.
The momentum continued into March 2026, when Sr. Morni presented atouching program on “The Heart in Stillness, The Stillness in Tea” at Dadong Arts Centre on International Women’s Day. The event, organized by the Chinese Tea Industry Culture Research Association, beautifully merged Eastern traditions with meditative wisdom. Another collaborative program on Healthy Balance: Meditation and Ayurveda was held at the Indian Trade Association in Taipei, presented
by Sr Morni and Ayurvedic practitioner, Sr Pranita from Australia, further promoting holistic well-being. With growing participation and deepening collaborations, The Brahma Kumaris Taiwan is poised to become a valued part of the nation’s evolving spiritual landscape. Plans for future partnerships and community programs are already underway, reflecting a shared vision of peace.
